Cleaning your washing machine filter.

To get the most out of your washing machine, it is important to clean out and maintain the filter regularly. Many of the problems that occur with washing machines are caused by blocked filters. These issues may include:

  • Excessive vibrations and loud noises in your machine.

  • Your washing cycles can take longer to run.

  • Random stopping of the washing machine mid-cycle.

  • Your laundry might not spin properly and will come out wet.

  • How to clean the drain pump & filter

To clean out the drain pump & filter of your washing machine, just follow these simple steps:

    • Turn off your appliance and disconnect from the mains.

    • Open the service flap on your machine (usually bottom right corner of your washing machine).

    • Drain off the water in the machine using the drainage hose provided or by unscrewing the round pump cover (lots of water will come out so be ready with towels and a large flat container to catch the water). The pump cover can be difficult to unscrew (usually unscrews counterclockwise).

    • Clean the pump filter & inside the housing so the impeller can rotate freely.

    • Reinsert the pump filter and screw tight (handle should usually be vertical).

    • Clip the drain hose back in position & make sure you put the stopper in properly!

    • Close the service flap & you're ready to go.
