I am having problems with my dishwasher door
There are a number of reasons why you may be having trouble with the door on your dishwasher. The first thing to do is always check that nothing is stuck in the door or blocking its correct operation. Then follow the guide below to see if we can identify the problem.
-
The child lock has been activated
If your dishwasher door won't open and the controls are unresponsive, this is usually the result of the child lock function being accidentally activated.
To deactivate this function, you need to locate the child lock button on the control panel & press the button down continuously for 3-5 seconds. For machines with manual buttons, the button needs to be moved out of the lock position (refer to your User Manual if you have difficulty deactivating the manual lock).
-
The door latch is broken
If the door latch on your dishwasher is damaged or broken, the programme may not start. The latch is important in allowing the door to stay closed and preventing the machine from leaking. If the latch is damaged then it can be replaced by the correct part. Unless you are experienced at working on household appliances & due to safety concerns it is best to book a repair engineer to do the job for you.

There's a fault with the door lock
If the door to your dishwasher does not open, then it could be the result of a faulty or broken door lock. To identify whether this is the problem, look closely to see if the door closes correctly against the latch. The latch should engage into the door's micro switch. If it doesn't then this means that the fault is most likely with the door lock. Again due to safety concerns, we do not recommend trying to repair the door lock yourself unless you are experienced at repairing home appliances.

There is a problem with the door hinges
The door hinges form a crucial part of the safe and effective operation of your dishwasher but unfortunately, they can often be the reason for a dishwasher door failing to close correctly. Check the door hinges for any obvious visible damage by opening the door to its maximum limit and see if your door has lost its ability to hinge normally.
If you determine a fault with the hinges, this is often easily resolved by an engineer but for safety reasons, unless you are experienced in repairing domestic appliances, this isn't a job we'd suggest you try to carry out yourself.
