Cleaning your washing door seals.

Cleaning your washing machine door seal is a vital piece of maintenance you need to carry out on a regular basis to get the most out of your appliance and to help keep it running smoothly over the years.

Without regular cleaning, bad smells (created by bacteria) can develop in both the washing machine drum and around the rubber door seal. Constant exposure to moisture and grime means there is a high risk of bacteria and mould developing. The biggest reservoir for this gunk is in the fold in the rubber door seal. It is important to clean around this fold on a regular basis.

Without regular cleaning, mould, bacteria and bad smells can multiply sufficiently to be transferred to clothes and other items of laundry during a wash cycle.

Do not be fooled into thinking that the rubber door seal is washed each time you put the laundry on, it is not. The hidden areas of the door seal are in fact perfect breeding spots for mould and bacteria and therefore need a wipe down with a cloth on a regular basis. Also run regular maintenance washes using a washing machine cleaner to ensure your appliance is kept in perfect order.
