Inheriting Old Appliances

If you’ve moved into a house recently where appliances have been left behind by previous tenants or owners, there is a chance the appliances might have been recalled and could potentially be dangerous.

White goods left behind may not have been checked for recalls and may now be out of warranty, leaving those who inherit them with potentially hazardous objects in their homes.

When inheriting appliances from a previous owner or tenant, there are some simple steps you can take to ensure they are safe to use:

  1. Ensure all products are in working order before agreeing to inherit them

  2. Find out if the product is still in its warranty period and ask previous owner for details

  3. Register all inherited and purchased products on your Infoo app to check if any items have been recalled

It is always worth checking any appliances against our database of recalled goods to ensure you are keeping your home and family safe.
